Vanille is the project of singer-songwriter Rachel Leblanc, founded in 2017. In 2021, she released Soleil ’96, a debut French-language alternative rock album that is both direct and energetic, allowing the artist to carve out a place for herself in the Quebec music scene. Produced by Emmanuel Éthier, the album was a critical success. Praised by Le Devoir, La Presse and Le Journal de Montréal, it was also named one of the best albums of the year by the prestigious Canadian magazine Exclaim.

In February 2023, Vanille reached an important milestone with La clairière, her second album. More assertive and refined, this album marks an artistic shift, blending the folk sounds of the 1960s with French chanson. Listeners are transported to a dreamlike world of mysterious forests and haunting love stories.

Today, Vanille has accumulated over a million plays on digital platforms. Her acclaimed albums have opened doors for her on stages across Quebec, both in concert halls and at major festivals, as well as in several European countries, not to mention the prestigious SXSW festival.

Mark the date in your diary: on 17 October 2025, Vanille will release Un chant d’amour, her third album, marking the beginning of a new creative chapter. Surrounded by her collaborator, producer and bassist Christophe Charest-Latif—a master of grooves and niche references—as well as Julien Comptour, Philippe Noël and Christophe Rosset-Balcer, the artist offers an ambitious, sweet rendezvous, carried by unforgettable melodies and lyrics brimming with evocative images.

The album’s distribution also reflects this effervescence: alongside Arielle Soucy and Velours Velours, we find Allô Fantôme, Radio-Canada’s 2025 revelation. Vanille has worked hard to enrich her unique universe and broaden its horizons.

This time, the artist draws her inspiration from the sunshine pop movement, celebrated in the 1960s and 1970s. From this luminous and optimistic genre, she retains a romantic sensibility, which she transposes into deceptively candid tunes, carrying a deeper meaning, often tinged with shadow.

As its title suggests, Un chant d’amour is permeated throughout by the theme of Love — with a capital L. Unfolding in multiple tableaux, it invites us in turn to contemplation, nostalgia and hope. The album feels like an intimate projection, similar to the experience of an old cinema where you abandon yourself, heart open, to stories that transcend you and make you dream.
