Composer, artist and co-director of the Transversales Disques label — an organisation dedicated to rare, previously unreleased recordings and experimental music — Jonathan Fitoussi has, for over two decades, been crafting a unique sonic universe in which analogue synthesis interacts intimately with space.

His career began in 2001 at the heart of the INA-GRM (Groupe de Recherches Musicales), a formative period devoted to the restoration of magnetic tapes and marked by pivotal encounters with leading figures in contemporary and avant-garde music.

A key figure on the French minimalist and electronic scene, he has marked his sonic exploration with a series of acclaimed releases, notably on the Pan European (Pluralis, Origins) and Versatile Records labels, as well as his recent collaborations with the American pioneer Suzanne Ciani and JB Dunckel (AIR).

Viewing his surroundings as a veritable open-air studio, the musician draws inspiration from direct contact with the landscapes around him.

In 2024, a pivotal moment marked his journey: his move to the Drôme Provençale. It was precisely in the heart of this region—at once starkly rocky, silent and bathed in light—that the album Deltas came into being.

In these lands where mountains and granite rocks rise to the surface, the landscape becomes increasingly barren as the altitude rises, growing in silence and intensity. Shaped by the breath of the wind and the heat of the sun, this landscape unfolds, through the changing seasons, deep hues and clean lines that directly inform his compositions.

The musical architecture of the album rests on a subtle balance between tension and tranquillity: waves of synthesisers trace slow, fluid movements, whilst rhythmic pulses and shimmering electronic textures interact with moments of calm, revealing music that is at once kinetic, textured and deeply alive.

A true antidote to the urgency and turmoil of our times, this fifth solo album was born out of a fundamental need to slow down. It invites the listener to take a contemplative pause, celebrating the spirit of places, their resonances and the emotional bonds we forge with nature.
