The story of Sarah Maison began in the south of France in the late 1980s. After spending seven years at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Art de la Villa Arson (Nice), she quickly decided on a career as an artist, exploring the concrete and the abstract and investigating instinctive modes of expression before finding her true calling: music.
Once she moved to Paris, Sarah Maison abandoned the acoustic minimalism and solitude of her early work in favor of more lush arrangements for her compositions. The first result was Western Arabisant, a real bombshell in the form of a gentle revenge on life, an instant hit included in France Inter’s playlist and supported by La Souterraine on the compilation Semi-Vol.2 in March 2016.
Entering the unique world of Sarah Maison is like stepping into her home. Not a woman to be pigeonholed into one style, she is heavily influenced by her mixed heritage (her mother is Amazigh and her father is from Cantal) and paints a self-portrait that blurs the lines, blending French tradition with danceable rhythms and lyrics that are not without humor. The interior design is unique, generous, and rich, with bright colors, colorful fabrics, and shapes everywhere. The eyes also play a major role.
After two self-produced EPs (Sarah Maison in 2018 and Soleils in 2021), great reviews from the press (France Inter, Libération, L’Obs, Télérama, FIP, Rock&Folk, Rolling Stone), and various live performances (in a group, duo, and solo), Sarah Maison returns in 2025 with her first album. Her concerts are striking performances. They celebrate the spectacular and dramatic dimension of the world’s greatest divas, bringing to life a universe where raw emotion blends with poignant aesthetics.
On stage, her art takes on a new form, where every movement and every light accentuates the tension between the tragic and the comic, creating an experience that is as intense as it is unforgettable.
